Legislative Council Considering Hundreds of Bills for Legislature’s Second Session

Senators and Representatives have submitted a total of 397 bill requests for The Legislative Council’s consideration during the current legislative session.

Because of a lack of support, or duplication with other bills, about 80 of those bills were removed from that list and by mid-December, 155 of them had been approved for consideration by The CouncilIn addition to those bills requested by members of the legislature, at least another 70 agency and department requested bills are also under The Council’s consideration.

The Council, a ten member group made up of leaders in the legislature, had processed 77 of those bills, approved 21 of them, and tabled 8 by December 6th.  During a December 19th meeting, the Legislative Council approved an additional 20 requested bills.
